Sometimes we are contacted about a home that has just been renovated, or a new construction whose plans are final. This is not the ideal moment for a Feng Shui consultation, since our recommendations may then be more difficult to apply.
The best time for a Feng Shui design consultation is when you are in the “idea” phase. We can then give you our recommendations on room layout, color, lighting, materials and furnishings. And since these can be fully implemented into the design, you can be sure you are creating the most comfortable space while receiving from it the greatest benefits.
The same is true for our Interior Design and Architectural Services. The sooner we begin, the easier it is to fully integrate our recommendations.
We start by sending you our Feng Shui questionnaire in order to gather the relevant information regarding you, your goals, and your space. We also ask for a floor plan, if you have one.
We then meet and take a series of compass readings of the property and of the interior space. From this, Reiko does her advanced Flying Star calculations to determine the exact energy profile of your space. This is based upon the precise direction your building faces, the year it was built, and the current calendar year.
These calculations result in an energy “grid” that is then overlaid upon your space, showing the location of its specific strengths and weaknesses. Every space is unique.
Reiko will then offer specific suggestions for the best furniture layout, colors, materials, and natural elements to maximize the strong areas and remedy any weak spots.
In about a week, you will receive a written report with all of the recommendations. If you would like help in implementing our recommendations, we can arrange for that as well.
Reiko Design has developed a sophisticated, proprietary Global Alignment Technology (GAT), which allows for pinpoint accuracy on Feng Shui readings, anywhere on the globe. This proprietary system utilizes multiple layers of software and satellite technology, and is so accurate that even when Reiko performs an onsite Feng Shui analysis, it is always cross-checked by a full GAT reading to insure precision.
We begin by sending you a questionnaire to gather basic information (including a simple floor plan and photos of the space, if available).
We then use our proprietary system to calculate the building’s exact Feng Shui compass orientation.
From this, we determine the energy of your space using our advanced Flying Star calculations, and create a detailed report outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the space and/or building.
Finally, we give you specific, powerful recommendations for each area. Our suggestions for the use of natural elements, colors, materials and furniture arrangement are all made to improve the overall energy and help you attain your specific goals.
In addition, we do a personal Feng Shui reading of each person living or working there, with specific suggestions for the best colors, elements, and positioning of furnishings. We make sure to determine the best orientation for their bed and/or desk.
Our report gives clear, easy-to-implement recommendations that, when followed, create real-life results.
We begin each job with a Feng Shui reading of the space to be designed.
This tells us what colors, natural elements, materials and layout are needed to optimize the energy of that space, while neutralizing any weak spots.
We also work closely with you to determine your taste, needs and budget.
Then we create a Design Concept that seamlessly blends all we’ve learned into a design for a space that feels as good as it looks.
This Design Concept is then presented to you personally at a meeting where its vision is fully laid out. This includes floor plans, furnishing layouts, detailed elevation drawings, as well as all selected furniture, lighting, flooring, window treatments, and natural elements.
In addition, this presentation includes a detailed budget showing all of the recommended items’ pricing, so that you have a full picture of both design and cost.
Once you have given us your final approval, construction can begin.
We gather bids from a number of contractors, or use contractors with whom we already have an established relationship. One benefit of using our contractors is that they give us preferential pricing, which we can pass on to you. And they have been field tested to meet our high standards of quality and conduct.
We also secure for you all Department of Buildings permits and board approvals. If needed, our in-house architect will create stamped drawings for the permit process.
Our hands-on project management service ensures that your job proceeds smoothly throughout the entire construction process, without any of the usual “dramas” so common to the course of renovations. The result is a process that is peaceful, enjoyable and relatively stress-free.
Like our other services, each project begins with a Feng Shui reading of the space or property in order to determine its innate energetic strengths and weaknesses.
Based on this information, Reiko works with our affiliated architect (or an architect of your choosing) on the design of the space to be built.
Starting with the exact placement and orientation of the building all the way through to its physical shape, materials, and layout, we create a space that is both practical and beautiful, while optimizing its energy.
From our first meeting throughout development of your design, we work with you closely to determine your taste, needs and budget.
Once you have given your final approval, construction can begin. We gather bids from several contractors or use contractors with whom we already have a relationship. One benefit of using our preferred contractors is that they give us preferential pricing, which we can pass on. And they have been field tested to meet our high standards of quality work and conduct.

The final result of all this is a building in harmony with its inhabitants and surroundings. A place of beauty and power, custom-designed to your specific needs, as well as your goals, life-style and aspirations.
We consider a home built in this way to be a true “power-house,” for that’s what it is.
Yes. Our goal is to make construction as smooth and enjoyable as possible. So if you have a contractor with whom you’ve had a good experience, then we are, of course, happy to work with them.
If you do not have a contractor in mind, we can introduce you to companies we have worked with or vetted and whose quality of workmanship and professionalism we know.
Fewer surprises, to begin with. In some cases, lower costs.
In general, our recommended vendors are ones we have worked with, know, trust and communicate with well. This tends to make things go smoother and faster.
We pride ourselves on solving problems, often in fresh, creative ways. We lead with the belief that for every problem, there is a solution, and we enjoy addressing challenging spaces in a way that unveils their true power and beauty.
We can! For projects with a tight timeline, we have ways of speeding up the process without loss of quality. We have done complete makeovers in as little as one week! Of course, the sooner you involve us in your project, the better. So please don’t hesitate to contact us now.
That’s a great question. In our personal experience, after working with hundreds of clients over the course of more than 15 years, we must say, “Yes! Absolutely.”
We have seen again and again, when advanced Feng Shui calculations are done and the correct remedies applied, the energy within a space shifts. This shift can result in other changes, like meeting the love of your life or landing a new job; or it can spur you to think about what you really want. We have seen people decide to have a baby, move to a new city, change careers, all with positive outcomes.
Reiko’s Feng Shui teacher, Master Sang, spoke about “3 Lucks:” Heaven Luck, Human Luck and Earth Luck.
- Heaven Luck is what some call God or a Higher Power, or whatever you may believe in
- Human Luck is our own self-effort
- Earth Luck is the influence and impact of our surroundings (Feng Shui)
According to Master Sang, when all 3 Lucks are aligned, our life works well. Things flow and come to us without great effort as we move steadily towards our goals. So while Feng Shui is just one of the 3 Lucks, it is, nonetheless, a full third of the pie!
We were recently featured in an article on hiring an interior designer which begins:
“You don’t have to be rich to work with a designer. In fact, working with the right professional can actually save you money, stress and time, and can prevent more than a few DIY disasters.”
We agree. Nothing is more expensive than spending money to fix something that hasn’t turned out the way you like, or worse, to correct a problem caused by shoddy workmanship or bad planning.
Our rates are in line with industry standards, and we can save you money with our designer discounts on furniture and materials. Just as important, we offer a level of experience, professionalism and project management that lets you breathe easy, every step of the way.
We understand that money should be spent wisely, and we do everything we can to meet your needs while honoring your budget.
When you work with our team, be assured we are fully committed not only to your project’s success, but to your peace of mind throughout.
